Why now?
We want a more equal and democratic America; a greener America that doesn’t let ideology blind us to science; and one that respects our freedom as individuals while realizing that we’re all in this together.
And many Americans share our values and views—whether it’s calling for marriage equality, women's rights, and immigration reform, getting money out of politics, reducing gun violence, or addressing global warming.
Yet… change is stuck on so many of the issues that our generation cares about. How do we get change unstuck?
Why we need to organize
We can start—in fact, we must start—by organizing the kind of public support and grassroots action that can persuade decision-makers to stop obstructing change and instead embrace it.
Depending on the issue, that could mean taking on a powerful corporation or industry, a dysfunctional Congress or legislature, anti-science climate change deniers or anti-birth control extremists. The people or forces lined up against change are strong, energized and organized.
Taking on these challenges and opponents—and winning—means making a smarter case for change, organizing more strategically for it, and working harder for it.
The good news? People like you. Bright, talented, passionate people who are willing to stand up and work hard for positive social change. The challenge, though, is finding a path that you can follow to help you start a career working on the issues we care about.
When you finish Change Corps, you’ll know how to organize people to get change unstuck, and we’ll help place you into leading organizations and campaigns, where you can become part of a wave of new organizers who will keep pushing and prodding our country forward for years to come.
